Pacific Crest Trail Section Hike

I had a block of free time on my calendar so I thought I would fill it up with some hiking! My plan is to hike a section of the Pacific Crest Trail in southern california from Interstate 10 near Palm Springs to Kennedy Meadows just north or Highway 178 at Walker Pass. It's approximately 500 miles and I am hoping to complete the hike in under 4 weeks. Since making these plans, I've had a personal issue come up that might derail my plans, but I've already paid for my flight to Palm Springs and mailed my first supply box, so I plan on starting the hike and bail if I need to. I've previously hiked this section of the PCT twice before, so I know what to expect. I'm starting a bit latter than the previous hikes, so the desert sections might be a bit hotter. I'll hike at night if I need to avoid the heat. I should see PCT thru-hikers on my hike, which will be fun for me.

I expect to hike 12 plus hours a day and have very few town stops with no zero days. Which means my availability to blog during this hike will be limited. There haven't been many people visiting my blog lately, so it's probably not a big deal anyway. I'll be carrying my Garmin Mini so you can follow my track by going to the Where's Loren page and click on the Garmin Tracks link.

I start hiking Tuesday, May 14th.

Thanks for following along!

Loren
