Half Way!!!

I’ve completed half the AZT and decided that deserved a celebration! Payson, Arizona was not a planned resupply, but I exited the trail at mile 409 to attempt a 30 mile hitch on Highway 87 to Payson. It took over an hour to get a hitch but Matt from Payson took a chance, picked me up, hooked me up with an awesome milkshake, and dropped me off at my motel! Thanks Matt for being part of the adventure! I picked the motel most hikers recommend in the hiking app Far Out and was happy to get a room on a weekend. I should have known it would be the cheapest, oldest, and most rundown motel in town. Eva would not have approved! But there was a bed, bathtub, TV, and WiFi so it checks all the thru-hiker boxes.

I also got a pleasant surprise that Eva’s friend, Becky,  who lives in Arizona is following my blog and she has a friend, John, who agreed to pick me up at the Picket Post Trailhead near Superior, Arizona at mile 494 on October 27th and deliver me, dirt, sweat, scratches to our Airbnb in the Phoenix area.

  1. You mean Oct 27, right? Not Nov 27. I know its easy to lose track of time when you are on trail. LOL
