Ouachita Trail Plans

I've said it before...planning a hike is half the fun of hiking, and in 2024, I've gone next level! Planning my next hike used to consist of Excel spreadsheets, Word docs, a collections PDFs, and some weblinks saved in a OneDrive folder. But now I'm using Asana. For the unenlightened, Asana is an online project management platform. I was introduced to it though work, but now I've got a personal account and I'm using it to plan my hiking adventures. Below is a screen showing my growing list of hikes and the details for the Ouachita Trail.

How cool is that? So here are some details for the Ouachita Trail:

Eva and I will spend the night in Sacramento on Sunday, March 10th. I fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 11th and spend the night in Tulsa. I have a shuttle arranged on the morning of Tuesday the 12th to take me from Tulsa to the west terminis of the Ouachita Trail in Talimena State Park. Three days later, I'll pick up my first resupply box and spend a zero at the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge. Four days later, I'll reach highway 27 near Story, Arkansas, pick up my second resupply box at the Bluebell Cafe & Country Store and spend the night in Mt. Ida. From there it's about 100 miles to Little Rock where I'll spend a night or two before I fly home! It's a short hike as thru-hikes go, but I'm getting excited nonetheless.

On previous thru-hikes, I usually don't plan every detail in advance, but for this shorter hike, I decided to make all my lodging and flight plans in advance. Hopefully there are no big surprises!

Here are links to my Garmin Tracks and Photo Album. Nothing to see here...yet.

Thanks for following along!
